Common goal the key to Malaysia’s success
KEPALA BATAS: Malaysia owes its success to the mutual understanding among its multi-racial leadership and the ability to set aside differences to achieve the common goal of economic development.
Prime Minister Datuk Seri Abdullah Ahmad Badawi said the seeds of mutual understanding were sown when leaders from Barisan Nasional component parties sat together and discussed common issues.
“I am happy to see that this understanding continues right from the Perikatan days before Independence till today.
“We must also uphold this power sharing among all Barisan leaders because understanding is the foundation of our cooperation,” he said in opening the Kepala Batas MCA division annual general meeting here yesterday.
Abdullah, who is also Kepala Batas MP, said the division had “created” history because it was the first MCA division that invited the prime minister to open its meeting.
The prime minister noted that the on-going annual general meetings organised by Barisan component parties proved that democracy was alive in the country.
The people, he added, could voice their feelings and grievances through their grassroots leaders who would convey the message to the respective party leadership.
